Ritu Dalmia has taken more chances than most chefs. She opened the authentically Italian Mezza Luna before Delhi was ready for it. Undeterred by its closure she opened Diva the first of a chain of restaurants that transformed the way people in Delhi looked at European food. Since then she has opened many successful restaurants around India and even in Italy. But none of this compares with the chance she took when, ignoring the advice of friends, family and colleagues she went public with her sexuality and challenged anti-gay laws in Court. She won. Ritu usually does. And she will, she says, continue to take chances and to push to make the world a better place.
